So, after days of rain, the sun has finally decided to shine today! It officially feels like spring!
I've got flowers coming up and a lilac bush that is ready to burst. Pictures will be posted when they all decide to pop out. But for now, I'm just enjoying the sun!

a break?
My feet ache. My back aches. My legs are so sore; they just might fall off. Really.
I've never worked this hard (since doing drywall nearly 6 months ago...). I suppose I should preface by saying that it is spring break, and we are finishing up a renovation begun about this time last year. It's just the finishing work (floor & window trim, crown moulding, etc) that needs to be completed, but the list is sooo long. I will never take a beautifully finished room for granted again! So, we've been working 12+ hour days to complete everything before next week. But, it's just not going to happen. I can admit that.
So, I'll just enjoy a little break. Feet up. Relaxed. Enjoying our one room that is completely finished. Ahhh... maybe one day (probably just before we got to sell it) the whole house will be done!
Unrelated news: my lilac bush has buds and my tulips have poked up! Spring is nearly here!

Spring?
It was March 2nd yesterday, and the high was 78 degrees! And then today, we're under a winter storm warning and are supposed to get ice with 7-8 inches of snow on top. Great... Spring was such a tease!
So, while we were enjoying the beautiful weather yesterday, we bought a rake and some leaf bags... so ready to get in the yard and do some much needed work. But, now, we're going to have to swap the rake for a shovel. Oh well... perhaps a snow day will be in order?
Well, I must admit the abnormally nice weather yesterday did us all some good. I got a haircut... not a trim... an actual haircut with style (ooo....ahhhh). It's been a while since I've done that. Somehow, having long hair turned me into a bum, who relied on a ponytail for far too long. It's an attempt to transfer from the grad school student to professional. So, haircut is a step in the right direction. Also, it's a nice change for spring. And, really... I have quite a few things on my "to do" list for spring. Here are just a few of them:
* be a good gardener (plant a vegetable garden and transfer flowers to a new location... and then actually take care of them)
* try to be more active... which always seems hard when I'm writing papers, sitting in class, or studying. hm. will make an extra effort for this one
* control the clutter. in the house, in my life, in general. i hate clutter.
* have more fresh flowers in the house. fresh flowers are underestimated on how nice they can make you feel

some peace and quiet....
It's Friday... *sigh*. And, while most people are looking forward to going out and starting their exciting weekends, I am so excited to stay home. Randy's band has a gig tonight from 10-2, which mean he'll stay around till 3, so he can get paid the 20% of alcohol sales, as promised. And, while I usually love going to hearing the band play, it's really nice to stay home, take a warm shower, get into my pj's and study. (Ha! I can't believe what I'm saying!) I'm in that good, productive mood that really appreciates absolute quiet (except for some pug snoring). That's the best way to get things done when it comes to studying for massive tests, which I just happen to have two of next week.
So, here's to all the people who are staying in tonight. It's definately a nice change... some peace and quiet.

a nice change
Today we awoke to a nasty mix of sleet and snow... just the kind of weather that almost makes you stay in bed longer than usual.
But, being the responsible adults we are (read: don't go to work = don't get paid), Randy and I both got up promptly and got ready for the day. We turned on the news, and the announcers were suggesting everyone stay off the roads. Hm. Wish that were possible. With Randy working out of his car, "staying off the roads" is not going to work. But, there was still hope for me. Over 200 schools were closing around the St. Louis area.... SIUE not one of them. Erg.
So, I bundle up, brave the ice, and slowly make my way to school to find out all clients have been cancelled for the day. So, I have a class in the morning and one at night until 8pm. What a long day that will be staring outside looking at the ice/snow accumulating on our poor stationary cars.
But wait! Hope comes. Word comes to us that any classes after 4:30 are cancelled. Amazing. Now I don't have to choose between what my professor expects of me or the value of my safety.
So, I'm home... in the warmth and comfort of my home. All in all, a nice change from the normal 12-hour day at school.
Wishing all who are experiencing bad weather a very safe and warm night and weekend.
